Even though Fred Bell was very young when the Great Depression was going on he still remembers it very well. Bell thinks back to people just getting out of the war trying to sell flowers and pencils and such on the side walk to make money to live. These people didn't even have a change of clothes they just stayed in the same army uniform day after day trying to make money. He also recalls how his family always had money so they could afford the necessities of life and even more, they had a full time maid and many other things that no one else could afford at the time. Fred was pretty comfortable with his times during the Great Depression because almost all his normal necessities were at his access.

Ruby E.Wilson operated a service station. She lived in North Platte, Nebraska. Thsi interview was done by Minor Hinman on November 5th - the 6th in 1938. Ruby is a white woman and was a young girl at the times she discusses in her interview. Ruby E. Wilson seemed to have a very privledged life compared to others during the great depression. Ruby's father was a lawyer and a member of the 1st constitution of the State of Nebraska her family even owned a ranch. Wilson describes her childhood neighborhood, and the people around her. She recalls, "I can remember when one winter through a depression when grown men walked the streets with burlap bags ties to their feet." The men wanted nice clothes even if they had no clothes Ruby explains. Much of her memories include the indians attacking or stealing from others. She says, "People used to be one big family but the feeling has changed and I can prove it. There is a different feeling now toward eachother." The depression took a great toll of people and how they used to be, its amazing what the stress and pressure of taking care of your family can do. People used to be able to leave their homes unlocked and, horses free but now there is no trust in people. It seems to me that Ruby really just noticed the changes in the actions of the people around her. She noticed that the trust was gone between others, because times were so desperate.
